To all the gals who’ve spent the last two weeks bumping Pressley Hosbach’s breakup anthem “Almost Love”—we’ve got the *best* news.
The swoon-worthy ‘n’ cinematic music video has finally arrived…and you can be one of the first ones in the world to see it.
Girls’ Life exclusive premiere of “Almost Love”…
Pressley spilled on the meaning behind the visuals—and reveals she took major inspo from the setting of Los Angeles. “Instead of a typical love story, we got to play with the idea of “movie love” in our very own backyard of Hollywood,” she says. “I wanted this to have a very old Hollywood feel in the vibe and the story, and I think we accomplished that.” (Considering every second gives the vibe of a Cali road trip, we’re inclined to agree).
It’s hard to pinpoint a fave part of the “Almost Love” video. There’s the highly relatable depiction of crush conflict (check out the full lyrics below), the dreamy atmosphere à la Taylor Swift’s “Wildest Dreams” and, ofc, that killer choreo we’ve come to expect from Pressley—which we will be practicing in the mirror all weekend, tyvm.
VERSE 1:
Driving on the 405, I could see the signs
Had your hand on top of mine, it was almost right
Baby, maybe in another life
You could’ve been the one
but you won’t fool me twice
PRE:
You had for me second or two
Made me think you’re something to lose
I hate to admit that the truth, the truth
HOOK:
Is it was almost love
But you had, but you had, to go and mess it up
And it’s sad, and it’s sad, you even fooled me once
God I thought, yeah I thought, that it was almost love
But almost isn’t enough
POST:
Enough enough
Almost isn’t enough
Enough enough
Oh, I thought you were the one
The one the one
But almost isn’t enough
VERSE 2:
We were sitting on the beach
felt you pull away from me
almost said the words, baby, but I held it in
You told me this was all we need
so why you acting differently
I can’t love you casually,
won’t do this again
PRE:
You had for me second or two
Made me think you’re something to lose
I hate to admit that the truth, the truth
HOOK:
Is it was almost love
But you had, but you had, to go and mess it up
And it’s sad, and it’s sad, you even fooled me once
God I thought, yeah I thought, that it was almost love
But almost isn’t enough
POST:
Enough enough
Almost isn’t enough
Enough enough
Oh, I thought you were the one
The one the one
But almost isn’t enough

Maybe the coolest part of the entire project is that Pressley masterminded everything we see onscreen. “Like my previous video for “Break My Rules”, I was in the driver’s seat to produce this fully end to end,” she shares. “As an artist who also acts, I love to make my videos feel like mini movies.” And honestly? Get her in that director’s chair ASAP.
