Allow us to introduce you to the gals who are about to be everywhere…
Carmen B. Sanchez

Age: 17
Catch her: Bonding with her bandmates-turned-BFFs on Disney’s Electric Bloom
Here was Carmen’s exact process for filming her Electric Bloom audition tape: have her dad drive her to the nearest Guitar Center, learn a drum part in 30 minutes flat, take a deep breath and hit record.
“I was like: ‘Hi, I’m Carmen Sanchez. I play piano, I sing and I started playing the drums two hours ago,’” she laughs. Looking back, it’s no surprise she was a shoo-in for tough girl rebel Jade (who, according to Carmen, also always tells it like it is).
It’s hard to say which part of Electric Bloom we’re watching on repeat. Maybe the anthemic musical numbers that feel like a total throwback to the age of Hannah Montana (which Carmen grew up watching). Maybe the tight-knit female friendships featured front and center. But for Carmen? It’s all of that—and the scene-stealing fashion, too. “The clothes are incredible. It’s a whole style evolution,” she says.
Nia Sioux

Age: 24
Catch her: Speaking her truth in a raw tell-all
For Nia’s whole childhood, the dreaded phrase “bottom of the pyramid” meant never measuring up (anyone who’s watched a single episode of Dance Moms knows the drill). Fast-forward to today and it’s the title of her empowering memoir, which came out on Nov. 4.
She’s reclaiming the label—once used to create rivalries among the dancers—while sharing her unfilmed account of life on the show. Competing every week in the public eye was tough enough, but as a young Black girl, Nia also had to push back against hurtful stereotypes.
Those struggles didn’t discourage her from becoming the girlboss/actress/activist she is today, though. Her message to underdogs everywhere: “If you’ve ever felt overlooked, undervalued or been told you’re not good enough, this is for you.”
KATSEYE

Age: 17-23
Catch them: On the Beautiful Chaos Tour
If you catch yourself randomly singing the words “everything’s gnarly” about a hundred times a day…us, too. This year’s most talked-about international girl group is embarking on a sold-out North American tour this month.
The KATSEYE gals (that’s Lara, Yoonchae, Daniela, Manon, Megan and Sophia) have had their share of viral moments—from a head-to-toe sliming at this year’s Kids’ Choice Awards to an unforgettable Lollapalooza performance of their bop “Gabriela.”
But they’re careful not to let the fame—or the fans who seem intent on playing favorites—threaten their IRL friendships. Lara said it best when revealing the hidden meaning of “Gabriela”: “It’s kind of a play on our solo stans and the people who like to pit us against each other. We’re poking fun at that because we’re all besties.”
Piper Connolly

Age: 14
Catch her: Fronting her rock group, The Habit
We’re obsessed with Piper’s powerhouse voice and crowd-commanding charisma, but the best thing about her may be her fearlessness. Case in point: GLITCHGIRL.EXE, the experimental, Charli XCX-inspired dance remix record she released earlier this year. “I want to touch as many genres as I can,” she says. “If I’m going to be a musician, why not try everything?”
Now, Piper’s bringing that boundary-pushing spirit to the stage with her seven-piece band, The Habit. The crew comes from all over: some are Piper’s longtime friends, some studied music with her and others joined after spotting a flyer she and her dad put up. All are chasing the dream of making it big together. And with Piper’s magnetic stage presence leading the charge, it’s only a matter of time.
Alexandra Brown Chang

Age: 26
Catch her: Serving up YA drama in By Invitation Only
Alexandra was raised on the Gossip Girl series and founded a pop culture website when she was only a teen, so juicy stories about glamorous people are kind of her jam.
It makes sense, then, that her first novel (which was released in September) would take place at a debutante ball in Paris. The glitzy romance follows Piper and Chapin, two girls from drastically different backgrounds whose paths cross as they compete for Debutante of the Year.
Drawing from her own self-proclaimed “debutante dropout” era, Alexandra is passionate about translating every magical moment of girlhood into fiction. “Stories can be fun, whimsical, influential and unapologetically about teenage girls,” she states. And no spoilers, ofc, but we have it on good authority that Alexandra is a sucker for enemies-to-lovers…
Liamani Segura

Age: 16
Catch her: Nailing riffs on her debut EP
When Liamani serenades her younger self on her confessional new EP, you can imagine she’s picturing that same kindergartener who belted her heart out at the school talent show, before performing at local basketball games and, eventually, landing the role of Emmy in High School Musical: The Musical: The Series.
With Dear Little Me, Liamani is trading “The Star-Spangled Banner” and “This Is Me” for her own original tunes that capture the messiness of first love, heartbreak and growing up. “The title track is a note to little Lili, telling her I’m so proud of her for living out her dreams,” she says.
Forever inspired by Mariah Carey and Ariana Grande, Liamani describes her sound as soulful, vulnerable and full of R&B feels. (And psst, if those six songs still leave you wanting more, here’s good news: She’ll be playing Red’s little sis, Pink, in next year’s Descendants flick.)
