I have known this guy since fifth grade, and I suddenly started having a huge crush on him this year. We are both in eighth grade and in the same class. The only problem? He has a GF in high school.

Most eighth-grade boys don’t have high school girlfriends. If his relationship is working for him, you may have to wait in the wings and keep living your life: school, friends, family, hobbies, work, volunteering, etc. And can we agree that telling a taken guy that you like him is not a good idea? As for what to do, remain friendly with him as you let this crush quietly simmer on the back burner, and be aware that your feelings may change, too. Can you say hi to someone else who might want to go with you to a Halloween party or football game? Just saying, “That’s a nice sweater” could start a whole new relationship.
