Winter is the ultimate season for cozying up and making some magical mems, especially with your cutie. (And, psst, dates with your boo don’t have to cost a fortune.) If you’re looking for fun, flirty and totally free ways to spend time with your crush, try these ideas that actually give you things to do, talk about and remember forever…

Ice Skating (Even if You Just Watch)
Look for local outdoor rinks that offer free entry, or check if a nearby park has a frozen pond you can safely skate on. Can’t skate? Cheer each other on while sipping hot cocoa. For extra fun, make up silly skating challenges, like “Who can spin the fastest without falling?” or “Can you skate backward without wobbling?” Even a warm-up walk around the rink can turn into an adorable chance to hold hands.

Explore Your City
Grab your warmest scarf and gloves and explore your neighborhood like you’re a tourist. Hit up every free museum, park or library. Even better if there’s a free festival going on downtown! Snap a few pics to commemorate your trip—and maybe even snag a postcard or two for good measure.

DIY Snow Fun
If snow is on the ground, embrace it! You can have a playful snowball fight, build a snowman together or make mini “snow sculptures” before voting for the funniest or cutest one. Take it a step further by creating a themed snow creation, like a tiny snow castle, animals or even a mini snow “selfie scene.” Don’t forget to warm up afterward with homemade cocoa or a shared blanket. (And, even if you don’t have snow, you can still create all the cozy winter magic indoors with the same yummy treats + good vibes.)

Movie Night Under Blankets
Transform your living room into a mini movie theater. Pick two or three of your favorite films (bonus points if they’re winter-themed). Pile blankets and pillows on the floor, make a snack station with popcorn, cookies or fruit and maybe even create a fun “ticket system” where you can decorate a ticket like you’re attending an actual movie. During the film, you can challenge each other to guess the next line or plot twist.

Window Shopping Adventure
Even if you’re not buying anything, wandering a mall or shopping center can turn into a full-on adventure. Snap fun photos, try on funny clothes or make up backstories for random items in the windows. It’s playful, interactive and gives you lots to talk about.

Winter Stargazing
Bundle up in blankets, grab some cocoa in a thermos and head outside on a clear night. Pick a quiet park, hill or even your backyard. Try to spot constellations, challenge each other to find the first shooting star or tell stories about the shapes you see in the stars. If you have a phone app that shows constellations (we like Night Sky), you can turn it into a cute “space explorer” game together. Even just sitting quietly and watching the sky can feel romantic and memorable.
