We all know the queen of law herself Elle Woods—but what was her life before Legally Blonde? Well, grab your your fluffiest pink pens and your sharpest pink blazer, because we are about to find out in the new prequel series, Elle!
The upcoming series dives into Elle’s high school years in the ’90s and the defining moments—including her first love and heartbreak—that shaped her into the iconic character we know and love today. Here’s everything we know so far.
Who is playing Elle Woods?
After an open casting call in 2024, it was announced in February 2025 that 24-year-old Lexi Minetree would be our new Elle. (Not to mention she is totally Reese Witherspoon’s twin!) She’s acted in small projects before, but this is her first major role.

Who else is in the cast?
Tom Everett Scott- (who you may recognize as Conrad and Jeremiah’s dad in The Summer I Turned Pretty) will be a series regular playing Elle’s dad, Wyatt, and June Diane Raphael will star as her mom.
And Zombies fans, you’re in for a treat: Chandler Kinney is joining the cast as Kimberly, a sharp-tongued senior who strongly dislikes Elle. We can’t wait to see her bring the drama.
Some other cast members include Zac Looker (who will be playing Elle’s classmate Dustin), Jessica Belkin (Ricky, Nicky, Dicky & Dawn) as Elle’s BFF Madison and Logan Shroyer (This Is Us) as Elle’s crush. Former Disney Channel star Kayla Maisonet (Stuck In The Middle) will also make an appearance in the series.
How is Reese Witherspoon involved in the movie?
Besides casting young Elle, did you know that Reese herself developed the concept of Elle’s life before Harvard? She is also executive producing the series along with Marc Platt through her Hello Sunshine production company and Amazon MGM Studios.
Have we gotten a first look at Elle?
While not much has been revealed yet, we got a sneak peek of younger Elle chatting on a bubblegum pink phone. And when the series wrapped production, Hello Sunshine and Prime Video blessed our feeds with a glimpse of the characters in the show.

What is the release date?
Elle will be released on Prime Video July 1, 2026, along with the 25th anniversary of the original Legally Blonde movie. And honestly… isn’t the poster so cute? The series has already been renewed for a season two, as well. While we are still waiting for a trailer to drop (fingers crossed we will get one soon!), we will totally be planning the ultimate pink watch party fits.
