If you’re obsessed with Kpop Demon Hunters (same!) here’s a curated list of recommendations from a veteran K-Pop stan. We’ll be going song by song with recs so get your notebook out because K-pop class is in session.
Golden – I AM by IVE
“I AM” has a very similar chorus and overall message, which makes it perfect if “Golden” was your favorite song. Even the music video has a similar aesthetic with regal elements.
Your Idol – Obsession and Mama by EXO
EXO was a big inspiration for the Saja Boys, and you can tell with “Your Idol.” The movie also included another EXO song, “Love Me Right,” but if you don’t like that cutesy vibe, “Obsession” and “Mama” have insane vocals and a darker aesthetic that make the three songs sound like cousins.
Soda Pop – Baby and Hide and Seek by ASTRO
The Saja Boys knew what they were doing when debuting with “Soda Pop.” A refreshing summer bop, ASTRO is made for a day at the beach with some fresh cut fruit. Both songs have a bubbly sound and catchy chorus that I promise will get stuck in your head, (but, dw, your soul won’t be stolen by demons if you like the songs).
Free – Butterfly and Hold Me Tight by BTS
Most people know BTS for “Dynamite” or “Butter,” but their older ballads are certified bangers. “Butterfly” and “Hold Me Tight” carry that similar emotional weight to have you almost in tears, but still singing along and swaying to the beat.
How its Done – LA DI DA by EVERGLOW
EVERGLOW *ate* with this comeback. The synth and 80s pop are different from “How It’s Done,” but the beat drop carries a familiar, powerful sound that I think makes them compatible.
TAKEDOWN – Kill This Love and DDU-DU DDU-DU by BLACKPINK
If we’re talking about beat drops and songs that make you feel like you’re slaying demons, then these BLACKPINK songs are everything. The music videos have gorg visuals that also echo that same strength.
What it Sounds Like – Killing me by CHUNG HA
This recommendation is less of a one-to-one, but I think it has the same build-up that makes “What it Sounds Like” so breathtaking. CHUNG HA’s music is for the moments when you need an energy boost and for your popstar world tour in your bedroom.
