Prom day is basically a holiday. The dress. The glam. The pics. The friends. And getting ready together? That deserves its own event. Enter: the getting-ready-for-prom brunch—a cute, low-stress way to kick off the biggest night of the year with your favorite people.
Whether you’re hosting at your house or taking over a friend’s kitchen, here’s how to plan a pre-prom brunch that feels aesthetic, memorable and totally Insta-worthy.

Set the Scene
Start by choosing one main spot in the house to be the center of everything, like the kitchen or dining area. This keeps the morning organized.
From there, make your tablescape and pics more aesthetic. You don’t need anything fancy—a bright tablecloth, a sprinkle of confetti and Trader Joe’s bouquets split into smaller jars or cups work perfectly. Let natural light fill the room, and keep the decor minimal (a couple balloon bunches in pastel hues are super cute).

Brunch First, Glam Later
Plan to eat before anyone starts getting ready. This gives everyone a chance to sit down together, chat and actually enjoy the moment. Set out a simple breakfast that doesn’t require constant cooking, like pancakes or waffles (you can make them ahead of time and pop in the oven for a few mins to warm ’em up), fresh fruit, pastries or muffins. Arrange everything on one table (large wooden cutting boards work great and are super aesthetic). Pour orange juice, iced tea or iced coffee into cute glasses like Mason jars to make it feel extra cute.

The Matching PJs
Have everyone arrive in or change into matching pajamas as soon as they get there. Coordinated button-down sets, silk pajamas or soft pastel loungewear all work. Psst: Button-down tops are especially helpful because they won’t mess up hair or makeup later. Make sure you tell everyone what to wear or buy PJs for everyone ahead of time.
Cue the Playlist
Before brunch begins, put on a playlist that matches the calm, happy energy of the morning. You can make a shared playlist where everyone can pick their favorite songs, but otherwise, a throwback mix is perfect for pre-prom. Everyone will know the words and sing along, plus, there’s no better way to celebrate the end of high school approaching than singing songs from your childhood.
Once your brunch is over, you can start your GRWM routines with your gals…then get ready to dance the night away.
