Has your crew been stuck in the same old routine lately? Sure, Netflix nights and iced latte runs are great, but it may be time to switch it up. Enter: the Jellycat exchange party.
A Jellycat exchange works sort of like a Secret Santa, but instead of normal presents, you trade Jellycats. The best part is that it can work as a Galentine’s, Christmas or even a just-because party. Ready to revamp your next hangout? We have all the inspo you need to recreate this adorable bash!
The Invites

Start by thinking about how big you want your party to be. Are you going for a big bash or a small soirée? Make sure to keep in mind how many girls your space can hold. On the invite, remind everyone to bring one Jellycat to exchange. You should also make sure to specify a budget—some Jellies can be a bit pricier than others.
Before sending out the invites, have the squad draw names to find out who they’re shopping for. To go the extra mile, you can even ask everyone to wear pastels. (Coordinating colors = the cutest pics!) Slap all the info onto an adorbs invite (find some fancy templates or design your own on Canva), and you’re good to go.
The Decor

Jellycats are all about childhood nostalgia, so bring out this unique energy with your decor. Try to emphasize soft pastels (especially pink!).
Start by setting up a dreamy tablescape in your kitchen. Drape the table with a cotton-candy pink tablecloth, then top it with color-coordinated plates and cups (find some cute options at Target or Walmart). Next, arrange your cutest Jellycats down the middle of your table as the centerpiece. Got any food-shaped amuseables? Show them off like real dishes on cake stands. Finish it off by sprinkling some confetti across the table for an extra sparkly touch.
If you have an extra corner to spare, turn it into a totally IG-worthy photo op. Repurpose a powder pink picnic blanket or tablecloth as a backdrop and blow up some balloons for the background. To stick with the theme, grab a Sharpie and draw an Amuseables-style face on the balloons. Or, tbh, just draw a face on any decor you can get your hands on to give it automatic Jellycat vibes.
The Snacks

What brings a party from fun to legendary? The food, ofc! Get crafty by filling up some Mason jars with your fave colorful candy (Nerds Gummy Clusters, anyone?). Then, tie a bow around each jar and arrange them on the table. You can also set up a charcuterie board full of fresh fruit for a healthier (but still delish) option. And, in case you were wondering, pink lemonade is a non-negotiable. These playful pops of color give the same child-at-heart energy as all of our fave Jellycats.
Snag an array of pastries from your local bakery and decorate them like (you guessed it!) Amuseables. You can opt to recreate popular Amuseables like the croissant, the waffle or the cake, or to make your own one-of-a-kind desserts. Melt dark chocolate in the microwave in short bursts, then transfer it into a piping bag. Use this to decorate your pastries. Once you’re done, you can even give them little legs made out of anything you can find in the kitchen (blueberries work great).
The Main Event

Now that all the hard work’s out of the way, it’s time to have some fun! Before your guests start to file in, turn on some soft background music (we’re here for acoustic T-Swift) to set the vibe. To bring back even more childhood feels, DIY some friendship bracelets with your girls or play a good old-fashioned game of Candyland (or Monopoly, Charades or Clue—whatever fits the vibe). After enjoying some snacks, gather everyone to start the main event…the exchange!
Typically, a Jellycat exchange is played like Secret Santa, so each person should have brought a Jelly for the person whose name they drew. Once all the gifts have been given and you’ve snagged an adorbs new Jelly of your own, it’s time for pictures. Get the whole squad to pose with their new fluffy friends and snap away. You’ll want to remember this warm ‘n’ fuzzy party, trust.
