So long summer (sob), a new semester is here. The upside? There are so many amazing possibilities for how the year will go. And we’ll let you in on a secret—setting yourself up for success (think: great grades, solid friendships and fulfilling extracurriculars) starts long before you even set foot in first period. Meet manifestation, aka visualizing yourself reaching your goals, with the belief that positively imagining your future can guide you toward your dreams. The logic goes that if you have a clear idea in your mind, you’re one step closer to achieving it. Honestly, the timing couldn’t be better: There’s a total full moon eclipse in Pisces on Sept. 7, urging you to let go of limitations and start picturing what you want the coming months to look like. On Sept. 21, you’re met with a partial solar eclipse in Virgo, summoning deeper reflection on topics such as self growth (this is a great time to whip out a journal or vision board). By the end of September, you should have a vivid image in your mind of the school year. Now all you’ll have to do is live it.

Aries

Few things invigorate you more than taking risks and having them pay off—even if there’s a period of doubt and fear in between. Ask yourself: What’s one pie-in-the-sky thing you want to accomplish this year? Visualizing getting that award or being up on that stage may just be the motivation you need to put yourself out there.

MANIFEST IT: Imagine the obstacles, not just successes. Consider how you’ll handle the pitfalls, too.

Taurus

To you, a great year isn’t all about huge accomplishments and big moments. Your best days usually involve spending quality time with your favorite people.

MANIFEST IT: Think how you want to feel when you’re with those you love the most (cozy, connected, chill?). Can you plan hangouts that reflect the mood? Let your mind serve as the ultimate Pinterest board, collaging ideas of fun future times for your squad.

Gemini

You get your energy from others, so your perfect year is defined by fostering connections with as many people as possible (extra credit if you can blend some together to form an even bigger friend group).

MANIFEST IT: Figure out what kinds of bonds you want to create. Is there a club you’ve wanted to join or a long-ago BFF you’ve lost touch with? That will give you a direction that’s more specific than “be a social butterfly.”

Cancer

You seek deeper meaning in everything you do. When you look back, you want to remember insightful conversations with friends and family—the heart-to-hearts that immediately bring you closer. To have those, you’ll have to be present and ready to be vulnerable.

MANIFEST IT: Share your craving for connection with others. Sometimes the first step to opening up more is to simply say you want to open up more.

Leo

A true leading lady, your ideal year would involve taking ownership of something (like spearheading a club, inspiring a team or planning a big trip with your friends) and learning a lesson from the experience.
