The weather is warm and the skies are blue, so it’s time to stop wasting your precious Saturday in front of a screen and get outside! Not an outdoor girl at heart? No problem! Here’s how to ditch the doom scrolling and embrace nature this season!
Spring up your outfits
One of the quickest and most satisfying ways to transition into spring is to start dressing for the warmer, rosier weather. You don’t have to change your whole look, but incorporating little elements of the season into your daily fits will put an extra spring in your step (get it?). Try throwing in flowy fabrics, soft and earthy tones, floral prints, or light layers (a pastel cardi can never go wrong).
Outdoor fitness
While you love doing your workout routine in the comfort and safety of your room, as the weather warms up, one of the smartest and best things you can do for your body is soak up some rays. Take your usual weight session into the yard, go for a sunrise jog, or try a beach yoga class. Not only will you feel especially refreshed, but you’ll notice all the pretty things nature has to offer as you take care of your body.
Have fun in nature
So many of your fave activities can be done just as easily outside. Instead of another movie night in your basement, set up a projector in your yard and catch a chick flick under the stars. Rather than curling up on your couch with your current fantasy obsession, take it to the park, the beach, or any pretty spot out of the house. Whatever chill activity you favor, transitioning it from the great indoors to the oh-so-sunny outdoors will have you eager to be beneath the blue sky immediately.
Romanticize the szn
Spring is pretty much one of the most romanticized seasons, so use its aesthetic to make being in it feel more appealing. On the way home from school, drop by your local farmer’s market (or just the grocery store) and buy a fresh bouquet of flowers to spruce up your desk. Try a slow morning instead of your usual Saturday rush by sitting on the porch with an iced matcha and journaling. Take cute pics at sunset with your gals and hang them all over your room. There are endless ways to make spring feel like a dream!
Explore the great outdoors
Treat this beautiful weather as an excuse to acquaint yourself with nature, especially if you’re, well… more of an indoor person. There might be a cute pond by the wooded trails near your house just waiting for you to sketch by. Perhaps there’s a botanical garden you’ve yet to visit in your hometown or city. Even trying your hand at gardening (no matter how green your thumb is) can get you in the outdoor spirit.
Limit screentime
It’s so easy to waste time in front of a screen (hello, afternoons spent in the TikTok rabbit hole), but now is the time to stop letting your phone, laptop, or whatever device you are constantly on rule your life. Start by setting limits. Think: I will do whatever I have to do on here for no more than thirty minutes, then I have to take a break and go outside. By interspersing your screentime with bursts of the outdoors, you’ll feel less tied down by your device and more connected to nature.
Shift your social plans outside
Why another basic Saturday sleepover with bestie when you could have a backyard campout amongst the flowers and stars? Instead of a party in your garage, host an elegant garden soiree, complete with sparkling lemonade and sundresses. There are endless ways you can incorporate some Vitamin D into your social sched, and they instantly make being outside that much more fun.
