It’s the most wonderful time of the year—pumpkin spice, knitted sweaters and Gilmore Girls rewatches (aka fall). The classic fall activities we all know and love are great, but sometimes a refresh and new traditions are just as fab, too.
Have an *autumn* cleaning
Who said cleaning and organizing are only for the springtime? Once it gets a little colder outside, you’ll spend more time indoors, so take a day to do some deep cleaning of your space so it’s cute and cozy all autumn long. Maybe rearrange your bedroom and switch your bed sheets. Or, go through your closet and see what clothing pieces you don’t wear that you can sell or donate. A little switch-up and cleaning will make you feel so refreshed.
Host a baking competition
From pumpkin scones to cinnamon rolls, fall is the perfect season to bake your favorite sweet treats and have some friendly competition. Gather your friends and hold a baking challenge to see who can create the best desserts and treats. Even make it a themed competition like pumpkin-treats only or chocolate desserts (yum!). If you or your other friends are not into baking, you can always be a judge and try all those delicious treats (tbh, the perfect excuse to snack.)
Go book thrifting
Thrifting doesn’t just have to be for clothes—if you want to stock up on your physical TBR, go to a thrift store or bookstore to see if they sell second-hand reads. There’s something magical about a book that has been read by someone else—and who knows, maybe you’ll find one that has super cool annotations.
Plan your Halloween costume in advance
No more planning your costume a week before Halloween! Instead, dedicate an evening to pulling up your Pinterest board and planning what your fit will be for the spooky season. If you and your BFF’s want to do a group costume, this is a great time to plan it out. The only thing you should be worried about this Halloween is enjoying it (and maybe some ghosts).
Plan a listening party for The Life of a Showgirl
Mark you calendars for October 3rd, The Life of a Showgirl is coming! Set up either a group or solo listening party to celebrate the new album. Make it festive and an orange theme and create some friendship bracelets that display the album’s aesthetic. Don’t forget to claim your track and dance the night away when the album drops.
Go on a early morning walk
That early morning air is so crisp and fresh in the fall—take this as a sign to go enjoy it! Find time to wear your sweaters and fuzzy hats, grab a hot drink, go on a morning walk to catch the sunrise and admire the orange fall leaves. On your walk, queue up your playlist or catch up on your audiobook.
Crochet a fall accessory
The fall season is when we bring out all the hats, scarves and gloves, so why not make one of your own? Adopt a new skill that can also help you create something to use when the weather gets chillier. If you’re not sure where to start, take a look at this Crochet 101 video to help you get started. Crochet a hat, scarf, sweater or maybe a blanket. The sky’s the limit.
Make a physical bucket list
Take all the activities we suggested (and add a few more of your favorite fall activities too), and create a real bucket list. You can either make it in the form of a vision board (check out this post for some inspo—thank us later) or write it down in your journal. Get creative and add fall-themed pictures and colors, too. Once you’re done, stick it on your bedroom wall, mirror or just tuck it away in your journal. That way, you can always have it to remind you to enjoy the fall season in its fullest.
