So, I just got back from a trip with my family to the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic, and honestly…I’m still not over it.
Sometimes when my parents pick a resort, I’m worried it’s going to be boring, but this place is packed with so much fun stuff. It kind of felt like its own little city, but in the best way. Every day felt different because there was always something new to do.
The first day, we basically explored forever. By the end of the day, we already had our favorite spots: The pool right next to the beach was *the* place to be, because we could swim, grab snacks, then walk straight onto the sand. I knew I was going to spend the whole trip just going back and forth all day!
Our whole family stayed in one room, which I wasn’t thrilled about—but it worked way better than I expected. The Rock Family Suite had two beds, two bathrooms, a living room, plus a pull-out couch, so it didn’t feel cramped at all. I love that families like mine can stay there and not worry about blowing their budget.
The best part was the balcony jacuzzi (we used it almost every day). The ocean view was insane! You could hear the waves at night, which was so relaxing to fall asleep to. And waking up to see the ocean every morning was amazing.
Even though the pool by the beach was my fave, there were SO many other pools to explore. Like, not just one or two—there were chill pools for floating around, louder pools with music and games…even a full water park with slides. The beach was just as amazing. The water was warm, clear and calm, so it was easy to swim (be sure to pack plenty of SPF!).

The food was way better than I expected, too. There were a ton of restaurants—Mexican (Los Gallos = the yummiest tacos), Italian, Asian, a steakhouse plus even places for quick snacks. Every night we tried something different, which kept it exciting. And the desserts? Unreal. Ice Cone, the ice cream shop, became our daily thing (and, um, sometimes more than once a day). My favorite flavor was cookies and cream, but honestly, they were all good.
At night, there was always something to do. We played mini golf and went bowling. There were also shows and live music. During the day, the pools had full-on dance parties with DJs, contests and dancers hyping everyone up. It totally felt like a family-friendly summer party (my younger sis had a blast).

The coolest thing we did was snorkeling on our last day. We went on a catamaran tour that took us to a private area. The water was insanely clear, so we saw some coral and colorful fish swimming right around us. It felt like something out of a movie—and the perfect way to end the trip.
Hard Rock Punta Cana was the perfect mix of relaxing and fun. It’s lively without being too crazy, there’s music and cool rock-themed stuff everywhere (like guitars, concert vibes and memorabilia) and there’s seriously something for every age. I would 100% go back—and I’m already hoping we do!
