With a jam-packed schedule, tons of squad hangouts and piles of homework, time with your fam often gets put on the back burner. But tbh, while all these other things are great, your family is the one squad that’s forever—which is totally why you should prioritize spending time with them this winter. Peep all our ideas below on the most fun ways to bond with your OG crew!
Game Night
Looking for a little (friendly) competition? Try hosting your very own family game night! This cozy activity is ideal for those cold winter nights when it’s too freezing to go anywhere.
Grab all your fave games and spread them out on the dining room table. If most of your sibs are older (or you’re an only child), go for more mature games like Trivial Pursuit (trust, it’s more fun than it sounds) or Uno. If your fam is on the younger side? Get ready for some super nostalgic games like Candyland, Clue or even Chutes and Ladders. Who doesn’t love a good throwback?
If your fam can’t agree on what games to play, let each person pick out one game to play so everyone gets something they like.
Ice Skating

Whether you’re still holding onto the side of the rink or doing flawless twirls, ice skating is the quintessential winter activity. Plus, it’s super easy to do a larger get-together at the rink, so feel free to invite your extended family, too. (Just make sure that, if you’re skating outside on an IRL lake, the ice is at least four inches thick.) Once your sibs get tired of skating, you can settle back at home with some delish hot chocolate and a warm fire.
Spa Sesh
Calling all self-care girlies! We promise, there is nothing your mom (or your sister, aunt or grandma) would love more than to spend a day at the spa with you. Plus, with that cold winter air drying everyone’s skin out, a spa day is much-needed. Whether you do an at-home spa sesh or a professional one, it’s a great opportunity for you to hang out with the women in your family.
Start off with the ultimate spa day essential: face masks. (Peep some of our fave options here!) Once the face masks come off, the next non-negotiable is painting each other’s nails. Don’t just have everyone do their own–everyone should paint someone else’s (and pick their design, too) for maximum bonding and fun.
Coffee Run
Sure, you’re always grabbing Starbies with your BFFs, but when’s the last time you and your fam went to a coffee shop together? This activity is *so* low-effort but so effective. Coffee shops have the best cozy atmosphere—perf for winter—and they give you such a great space to chat, reconnect and relax.
Taking your little sibs on a coffee run? To keep things caffeine-free, order them a hot chocolate or herbal tea.
Cook Off

Start by gathering your fam in the kitchen. Set some parameters (no sink hogging, no allergens, etc.) and then decide on a judge. Hint: It’s the perfect role for whoever is a little less-than-confident about their cooking skills. Then, decide what everyone will be cooking–will it be a dessert, a dinner or something else?
Once all the rules are clear, hit start on your timer and start cooking. When everyone’s finished, let the judge decide which dish was the best. (Winner gets to pick the next flick for movie night!) But tbh, it doesn’t really matter who wins (well, it might to some of your sibs…)–at the end of the day, you’re spending time with your fam and getting closer to them. And we promise these warm ‘n’ fuzzy memories will last *way* longer than the winter.
