Welcome to your de-influencing era, where wellness gets a little less complicated, a lot less expensive and way more realistic…

Rule #1: Wellness doesn’t have to look aesthetic to work

Let’s be real: Social media has done a very convincing job of making wellness look like an entire expensive lifestyle. Suddenly, wellness feels less like self-care and more like needing the perfect matching set, a 5 a.m. Pilates class, an Erewhon smoothie and a shelf full of supplements you can barely pronounce.

But here’s the thing: A habit doesn’t have to be “cute” to be good for you. Maybe your version of wellness looks like stretching in an old T-shirt, going on a walk after school or drinking more water. That still counts. Real wellness is about how you feel—not how your routine looks in a TikTok montage.

Rule #2: Pay attention to the content that makes you feel worse about yourself

Some wellness content can be inspiring. Other times? It just leaves you feeling like you’re already failing before the day even starts. If a creator’s “healthy routine” makes you feel guilty, stressed or weirdly behind in life, take that as your sign to hit mute, unfollow or at least take a little space.

The truth is, a lot of GRWM/morning/night routines are built for likes and engagement—not real life. Start noticing how certain posts make you feel after you watch them. Motivated? Cool, keep watching. Inadequate? Nope. Protecting your peace online is part of wellness, too.

Rule #3: Not every problem needs a product.

TikTok loves to act like every small inconvenience has a must-buy solution. Tired? Buy this powder. Breaking out? Try this serum. Unmotivated? You obviously need a new planner, water bottle and morning routine.

But constantly being told to shop your way into a better life gets exhausting—not to mention expensive. The de-influencing era is your reminder that you do *not* need to buy every viral fix that lands on your FYP. Sometimes the answer is simpler than social media makes it seem. Before adding something to your cart, pause and ask yourself: Do I actually need this, or did someone just market it really well?

Rule #4: Build a routine you actually want to repeat

The best wellness routine is not the most “productive” or “impressive” one—it’s the one you can actually stick with. Instead of copying someone else’s 12-step system, start small and be honest about what fits your life right now. Maybe that means waking up 30 minutes earlier, journaling before bed or doing a short dance workout that doesn’t make you dread exercising.

You don’t need a total life overhaul to take care of yourself. Picking a few habits you genuinely enjoy will always take you further than forcing yourself through a routine that looks good from the outside but makes you miserable IRL.

More Wellness Content Right Here…
💗 7 Healthy After School Snack Ideas
💗 What To Expect During Each Phase Of Your Menstrual Cycle
💗 The Beginner’s Guide To Feeling Confident At The Gym

Images: @katiefang

Ever feel like your FYP is trying to convince you wellness requires a sunrise workout, six supplements, a color-coded fitness journal and a routine that takes longer than your actual homework?
