Start with a master spreadsheet and include deadlines, supplement links, required materials and your progress on each school. Seeing everything in one place makes it way less overwhelming, and honestly kind of satisfying to check off.<\/p>\n
It’s also helpful to create a folder on your laptop to store the latest version of your resume, transcript and extracurricular list. That way, you can pull ’em out to upload to each application in a pinch.<\/p>\n
Pro tip: Set weekly \u201ccollege check-in\u201d times (think: every Saturday at noon) so applications don’t take over your entire life.<\/p>\n
Admissions officers read thousands of essays. The ones that stand out? The ones that sound like an actual human, not a robot. (Translation: ChatGPT is *not* your friend here.) Share a real, honest story about something that happened to you, or do a deep dive into a topic that genuinely excites you.<\/p>\n

Once the decisions start rolling in, the stress can set in fast. But here’s the truth: Where you go to college does not define your talent, your potential or who you\u2019ll become. And grounding yourself in that perspective is powerful.<\/p>\n
You can grow, thrive and find your people at so many different schools\u2014not just the one you’ve had on your vision board. Ask any parent\/cousin\/older sis, and they’ll tell you that college is what you make of it. So try not to get too wrapped up (or locked in) on one specific university.<\/p>\n
Accepted?<\/strong> Celebrate, girl! Grab yourself a congrats cupcake, book a fancy din with your fam or give yourself a full day of Netflix-watching as a reward. You deserve it.<\/p>\n Waitlisted or deferred?<\/strong> This happens wayyy more than you might think, so don’t count this out. Waitlists move fast, and plenty of students end up getting in later. That being said, it’s good to keep your other options open\u2014so start thinking of a backup plan to avoid having to stress at the last minute.<\/p>\n Rejected?<\/strong> It stings, but this is *not* a reflection on your worth. Schools aren\u2019t rejecting you as an individual\u2014they\u2019re making decisions based on space, program requirements, demographics…so many other things. Give yourself permission to be bummed, talk to someone you trust (like a parent or your school counselor) and take a break from social media if it starts to feel like too much.<\/p>\n \u00a0Take a deep breath.
