Ticket? Purchased. Green and pink ensemble? Check. Hair? Tossed. Changed? For Good.<\/p>\n

On November 21st, Wicked: Part 2<\/em> premiered in theaters, and I knew I had to get my hands on a ticket ASAP. After watching Part One<\/em> and becoming completely obsessed with everything Wicked<\/em>-verse, Part Two<\/em> had some pretty high expectations and big shoes to fill (no pun intended).<\/p>\n

Calling all Wicked<\/em> girlies (or those who never left their Broadway phase)\u2014we’re recapping every single iconic and jaw-dropping moment in Wicked: Part Two.<\/em> And, in case you missed the title…major spoilers<\/span> ahead!<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\"A<\/p>\n

The second the theater screen flashed with Madame Morrible’s voice and chanting about the Wicked Witch, I knew we were in for quite<\/em> the journey. Both Glinda and Elphaba, clad in impeccable costuming and makeup, immediately stunned in looks and vocals. Glinda and Madame Morrible share a moment regarding Glinda’s role as everything “good,” with no shortage of pink accessories and glitter to go along with her newly-appointed title.<\/p>\n

Glinda and Fiyero announce their engagement to Oz (to Fiyero’s surprise…which def made the theater laugh), and word spreads quickly. Glinda, determined to be a face of encouragement to the people of Oz, pleads with Fiyero to keep silent about Elphaba and her whereabouts. Unbeknownst to the people of Oz, they’re looking to find her and make amends.<\/p>\n

\"A<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, we see glimpses of Elphaba continuing to convince the people of Oz of the false works of The Wizard, reconciling with her friends in the forest (including her childhood caretaker Dulcibear, in a very heartwarming reunion) and singing about “no place like home” for the animals to fight back to stay where they belong. In a gut-wrenching attempt to save the animals, they flee for safety, leaving Elphaba behind.<\/p>\n

Back in Oz, Nessarose (Elphaba’s sister) has just been appointed governor, and in an attempt to save her relationship with Boq, she pleads with him to love her like they did at the Ozdust Ballroom…before Boq admits he’s been in love with Glinda the whole time (major yikes), and is racing to find her before her wedding to Fiyero. Nessarose, in a moment of rage, begins reading off a spell to Boq before he transforms into the Tin Man.<\/p>\n

I have to give major props to Ethan Slater for his performance and role as the Tin Man\u2014the moment where he smashes through the doors of Nessarose’s office? Literally chilling<\/em>. I felt like I was Nessa, helpless, terrified and completely eaten alive with guilt. While theater kids remember his unstoppable performance in SpongeBob: The Musical<\/em>, this was a completely different version of his talent. 10\/10, no notes, thank you.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Aaaand then…comes the tumultuous wedding of Glinda and Fiyero. As they’re literally<\/em> in the middle of sharing vows (yanno, the moment that’s supposed to be super heartfelt and heartwarming? Yeah, no.), the animals that Elphaba set free from The Wizard’s captivity burst through the doors of the wedding venue, destroying everything in sight. In a complete moment of chaos, (and gripping the edge of my chair), the audience watches as their perfect wedding is torn to shreds. Glinda, heartbroken and realizing Fiyero was after Elphaba the entire time, breaks down to “I’m Not That Girl (Reprise)” among the wreckage. A moment where I almost<\/em> had to bring out the tissues…but not quite yet.<\/p>\n

Elphaba and Fiyero manage to escape to Elphaba’s hideout in the woods and share a loving moment together (“As Long As You’re Mine”), complete with insane vocals and visuals. (Are we surprised, given the talent of Cynthia and Jonathan?) Their moment is cut short when Madame Morrible, in an attempt to get Elphaba back to Oz, constructs a tornado that plants a house right on top of Nessarose. It’s now when we’re caught up to the OG The Wizard of Oz<\/em> movie\u2014enter Dorothy and Toto!<\/p>\n

As a long-standing fan of The Wizard of Oz<\/em> (take it from someone who used a Dorothy line as their senior quote), I was so excited to see the plots finally connect. Despite Dorothy’s face remaining hidden for the entirety of the movie, the costume and performance of Bethany Weaver as Dorothy were perfect.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

It’s not long before Fiyero is eventually captured by The Wizard’s guards, and Elphaba belts what was probably the most<\/em> incredible song from the entire soundtrack, “No Good Deed,” as we watch Fiyero transform into the Scarecrow.<\/p>\n

Back in Oz, the people are prepared to hunt down Elphaba for her wicked acts as the Wicked Witch. Once again, Ethan Slater delivers an unbelievable performance as the Tin Man, belting his disgust for Elphaba in “March of the Witch Hunters.” In a moment of desperation, and clad in all-black (much different from her usual pink get-ups), Glinda sets off on a horse to reconnect with Elphaba and convince her to tell Oz the truth all along about her good deeds. Elphaba, aware that all of Oz is looking to see the end of her rebellion, convinces Glinda to hide while she allows Dorothy to melt her with water, in a very tearful rendition of “For Good.”<\/p>\n

\"A<\/p>\n

In a completely heart-wrenching moment, we watch as Elphaba and Glinda, separated by the door where Glinda is hiding, sob as they realize what must be done. (The box of tissues I took into the theater with me? Completely gone ATP.) Dorothy splashes water on Elphaba, and her revolution as the Wicked Witch is complete.<\/p>\n

But…it doesn’t end there. It’s revealed after Glinda returns Elphaba’s green bottle keepsake to Oz, that The Wizard was her father The. Entire. Time. Major plot twist.<\/p>\n

Glinda carries on her reign as the Good Witch, continuing to bring hope and encouragement to the people of Oz. As we see the love and joy from the people upon her, we’re hit with yet another plot twist\u2014Elphaba has been alive the entire time, and is escaping with Fiyero (who’s still the Scarecrow, BTW) beyond Oz.<\/p>\n

In a final tearful scene, Glinda hopes that Elphaba is still out there somewhere listening, and Elphaba lights up the spell book she left behind as if to say “hello”\u2014ending with a side-by-side of the two before the screen fades to black.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

To say Wicked: Part Two<\/em> exceeded my expectations would be a complete *understatement.* From the thrilling plot to the stunning costumes and the enchanting vocals, it’s safe to say this sequel not only warmed my theater-lover heart, but will remain in my movie re-watch rotation for a very<\/em> long time.<\/p>\n
