When Luna learns she\u2019ll be moving 2,000 miles away, it\u2019s safe to say she’s anything but thrilled with the arrangement. She’s dreading leaving behind her California hometown, school and besties. And on top of it all? She’s moving in with a <\/span>grandmother she barely knows. <\/span><\/p>\n

It’s amazing how a simple closet refresh can make you feel like a totally new person\u2014and fall is a fab time to add some fresh pieces to your rotation. While your wardrobe overhaul doesn’t have to be as drastic as Luna’s (just imagine having to swap from sunny California fits to cold-weather Virginia knits), treating yourself to one or two new sweaters can bring major New You energy. Psst: Hit up the thrift store or a consignment site like eBay or Poshmark to snag vintage finds (think: barn jackets, cable-knit sweaters and riding boots) for way less.<\/p>\n

Let’s face it, a room refresh never fails to boost your mood. The first step? Think about what kind of vibe you want (comfy-cozy, maximalist, cottage chic)\u2014then head to Pinterest to curate the perfect mood board.<\/p>\n

When you’re picking out new pieces, keep functionality (think: a spot to sit while you study) and aesthetics (that thick-knit blanket would look amazing on your bed) in mind.<\/p>\n

The best-decorated bedrooms reflect your personality\u2014so make sure to add a few touches that really show off your style. Whether it’s posters, color-changing LED lights or vibrant trinket trays for your ever-growing jewelry collection, those little accents will make your space shine.<\/p>\n

Pro tip: Add an element that reflects your heritage. Just like Luna’s fascination with her namesake, the luna month, you could add old fam photos, your birth flower or wall art that nods to your zodiac sign.<\/p>\n

And don’t underestimate the power of a new paint color. A fresh coat can make your space feel brand new, even if you’re keeping all your furniture the same. To spruce up your walls, print out some pics from your phone (you know, the shots of you and your besties at the boba shop, your dog sticking his tongue out, your dreamy summer beach vacay) and add ’em to a bulletin board. So cute!<\/p>\n

What better way to reinvent yourself than by trying something new? Join a book club, volunteer at the animal shelter or sign up for some voice lessons. Not only is it a great way to fill your free time, but you may even make some new friends along the way. <\/span><\/p>\n

Just ask Luna\u2014her trip to the history museum quickly turned into her go-to hangout spot and gave her the boost she needed to start over in a new city.<\/span><\/p>\n

Hey, Besties! What advice would you give to a girl who’s nervous about starting over somewhere new?<\/h3>\n

“Things might feel scary at first, but try to think of all of the new and exciting opportunities that are waiting for you.” \u2014 Isabella K.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

“I think you just have to put yourself out there and join a club or group or sports team.\u00a0 That way, you can meet people who have similar interests.” \u2014 Lexi J.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

“It\u2019s totally okay to be nervous\u2014everyone feels that way! Just be yourself, smile and stay open to new people and experiences. The right friends will find you.” \u2014 Henley M.\u00a0<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

We’ll be the first to admit that change is never easy. And as excited as you may be for a fresh chapter (think: quitting soccer and trying out for dance team instead), starting something new can bring a whole lot of nerves along with it.<\/p>\n

The key to staying confident? Leaning on your friends and fam for support. Take it from Luna in Winging It<\/span><\/i><\/a>: Change can actually take your friendships to the next level\u2014as long as you keep putting in the effort.<\/p>\n
