You\u2019re thinking about auditioning for your school’s musical, but you\u2019re having second thoughts because you think you might have…dun dun…stage fright. While stepping up on stage can feel super overwhelming, we’ve got tips and tricks to nail your audition like a Broadway pro.<\/span><\/p>\n Be Prepared<\/b><\/p>\n Knowing the show you’re auditioning for and the audition material beforehand can give you a serious confidence boost. As long as you\u2019ve practiced and memorized the required material to the best of your ability, it’s now time to focus on owning<\/em> it. Don’t<\/span> be afraid to leave some room in the script, monologue or song to play and have fun. Auditioning is all about making it your own.<\/span><\/p>\n Butterflies are your friends<\/b><\/p>\n @milomanheim<\/a><\/p><\/div>\n Being nervous right before an audition is totally normal\u2014even your favorite performers get nervous. Instead of fighting those butterflies, harness that energy and turn it into excitement. Think of nerves as your body’s way of hyping you up\u2014take that natural adrenaline rush and use it to your advantage to boost your confidence. Your body is proud and excited for you, so you should be, too.<\/span><\/p>\n Fake it ’til you make it<\/b><\/p>\n The best part about confidence is that no one will ever know if it’s fake. It’s OK if you don’t feel 100% confident before you walk into the room. Give yourself grace and permission to \u201cfake it,\u201d because the more you do, the more you\u2019ll start actually<\/em> believing it. <\/span>Signing up for the audition was already half the battle. Now, it\u2019s time to shine and show the directors what you\u2019ve got.<\/span><\/p>\n Breathe<\/b><\/p>\n @cararosedipetro<\/a><\/p><\/div>\n If you feel like your heart is racing a million miles per minute, take time to do a few breathing exercises. You can take deep breaths from your diaphragm, hold them for a few seconds then let them out slowly. Taking a moment to repeat a few times until your heart rate has calmed. Now, you’re cool, calm, collected and ready to walk in.<\/span><\/p>\n Everyone’s rooting for you<\/b><\/p>\n When you\u2019re at an audition, everyone wants you to succeed. From your friends and family, to the director and even casting director, everyone is on your side and wants to see you shine. Don\u2019t doubt yourself, because everyone is here to support you\u2014so give it your all.<\/span><\/p>\n Have fun!<\/b><\/p>\n Auditions can seem intimidating and sometimes overwhelming. Treat every one like a performance and enjoy the spotlight on you<\/em> (yes, this is your main character moment). Genuinely having a good time can make your audition memorable and stand out.
