Imagine swimming the length of nearly 500 football fields, but in freezing waves&#8230;while being stung by jellyfish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jellyfish? Oh yeah, you heard that right. Maya was stung so many times she literally lost count, but instead of panicking, she told herself, \u201cOut of sight, out of mind\u201d and powered through.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But this wasn\u2019t Maya\u2019s first big splash. She\u2019s been making waves (literally) for years. At 14, she became the youngest woman to swim the Catalina Channel. Talk about using your talents to change the world.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And guess what? She\u2019s not stopping anytime soon. Maya dreams of becoming the youngest person ever to complete the <a href=\"https:\/\/longswims.com\/challenges\/oceans-seven\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Oceans Seven<\/a>, the ultimate open-water challenge. And while the Olympics have crossed her mind, she\u2019s following her own path for now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For Maya, it\u2019s not about being the fastest; it\u2019s about showing up, finishing strong and proving that you can do anything.
